Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
Our Commitment to Your Privacy
RapidPhoto processes 100% of your photos on your Mac. We do not upload images to our servers, cloud storage, or any third-party service. Your photos never leave your device.
What We Do Not Collect
- Your photos or any image data
- Personal information (name, email, location)
- IP addresses or precise device identifiers
- Keyboard input or clipboard data
Anonymous Usage Analytics
RapidPhoto uses Aptabase, a privacy-friendly, open-source analytics service, to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data — for example, which features are used and high-level app version and OS version. This helps us prioritize improvements.
Aptabase is designed to be GDPR/CCPA-compliant and explicitly does not collect personal data, IP addresses, or persistent device identifiers. No analytics event ever contains your photos, file names, file paths, or image content.
How RapidPhoto Works
RapidPhoto is a fully sandboxed native Mac application. Image processing happens entirely on your device using:
- Apple Metal GPU: For accelerated image processing (crop, resize, effects)
- CoreML: For on-device AI models (background removal, face detection, upscaling, OCR)
- macOS File APIs: To read and write files only within folders you explicitly grant permission to
No image data is transmitted over the network. The only outbound traffic is anonymous usage events to Aptabase (see below) and standard macOS app update checks.
Permissions
RapidPhoto requests file access permissions only for folders you choose to process. You maintain full control over which folders the app can access. On macOS, file access is protected by the system's sandboxing and privacy controls.
We never request: Camera access, microphone access, contacts, calendar, or location data.
App Store Privacy Labels
RapidPhoto's privacy label on the Mac App Store accurately reflects what we collect: anonymous usage analytics only, never linked to you. All image processing happens on-device with no network transmission of images or personal information.
AI Disclosure
RapidPhoto includes AI-powered features (background removal, face blur, upscaling, OCR) that run entirely on your Mac using Apple's CoreML framework. These models process images locally and do not transmit data to external AI services or cloud APIs.
When you use these features, you have the option to add an AI disclosure flag to your image metadata (IPTC field) to comply with platform requirements (e.g., "Edited with AI" on some social media platforms).
Third-Party Services
RapidPhoto uses Aptabase for anonymous, privacy-friendly usage analytics (see "Anonymous Usage Analytics" above). We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, Sentry, or any tracking service that profiles individual users.
Updates
When you check for app updates, your Mac's system software communicates with Apple's App Store servers. RapidPhoto does not receive any information about this connection.
Children's Privacy
RapidPhoto is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If a child has provided information through RapidPhoto, we encourage the child's parent or guardian to contact us so we can delete that information.
GDPR and CCPA Compliance
RapidPhoto collects no personal data. The anonymous usage events sent to Aptabase do not constitute personal data under GDPR or CCPA. Additionally:
- You have full control over your files on your device
- You can delete RapidPhoto and all associated data by moving it to Trash
- RapidPhoto never exports your image data to third parties
